Manuscripts submitted to the "Plant microbiome" section should advance our knowledge on the microbiota of agricultural and wild plants and their surrounding soil. These manuscripts should contribute to the understanding of the forces driving the assembly of the microbiota in different plants compartments, its functions and the mechanisms of interaction with the host plant and the environment and the effects of this interaction on plant growth and health.
