wMel forms a negative interaction hub within the Ae. Aegypti microbiome network. A Microbiome interaction network analysis using Wisconsin normalized read counts resulted in a network of 71 species and 159 edges. Red edges represent mutual exclusion interactions (significant negative Pearson’s correlation coefficient) and green edges represent co-occurrence interactions (significant positive Pearson’s correlation coefficient). Core microbiome species are highlighted in purple. wMel was involved exclusively in negative pairwise interactions with 35 species.
