(a) A stencil with an array of holes is adhered to a Petri dish, which is then (b) exposed to air plasma to generate an array of hydrophilic disks. (c) The stencil is then removed, and the medium containing the bacteria is added to the hydrophilic disks, after which (d) the droplet array is covered with mineral oil.
