Ingestion of dsRNA promotes the growth of gut bacteria in P. versicolora larvae. qRT-PCR analyses were performed to determine the relative abundance of gut bacteria in P. versicolora larvae fed with dsGFP (a), dsSrp54k (b), and dsActin (c) (n = 5), and the abundances of three major bacterial genera in non-axenic P. versicolora larvae fed with dsGFP (d), dsSrp54k (e), and dsActin (f). The measurements were performed at different time points (after 2–5 days of feeding). The qRT-PCR value obtained for gut bacterial 16S rRNA in P. versicolora larvae fed with water-treated leaves was set as control. P values were calculated using the independent samples t test.
