The categories are as followed: < 10 mg/L of DOC were grouped as low; 10 to 20 mg/L were categorized as mid; 20 to 40 mg/L were categorized in the high group. The plot graphs the Bray-Curtis dissimilarity index of each replicate of each tower. Towers with high (red) and low levels (blue) of DOC clustered separately (R = 0.75, P = 0.0667; see Supplementary Figure S1)
