Intra- and interspecific distances in stable isotope values of carbon (a) and nitrogen (b) as well as the gut microbial community (c) and predicted functional bacterial metagenomes (d) among individuals within the two crater lakes. For carbon and nitrogen, interspecific distances are highly significantly larger than intraspecific ones. For the gut microbiota, both taxonomically and functionally, distances are much more similar and significant differences could only be seen in crater lake Xiloá (Wilcoxon rank-sum test, *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001)
