Habitat-specificity of coral reef microbiomes. Seawater, sediment, coral (Acropora tenuis and Acropora millepora), sponge (Amphimedon queenslandica and Coscinoderma matthewsi) and macroalgae (Sargassum sp.) samples were collected for 16S rRNA gene sequencing at fringing reefs surrounding Magnetic Island (Geoffrey Bay) and Orpheus Island (Pioneer Bay and Channel; Queensland, Australia). Non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) based on Bray-Curtis dissimilarities revealed high habitat-specificity of coral reef microbiomes
