Biomass varies by four to five orders of magnitude in a NICU. 16S rRNA gene template copy number was quantified via ddPCR. a Biomass was averaged across all swab and wipe samples for each sampling day and plotted on a timeline to visualize variation in biomass over the sampling campaign. b Each dot reflects the average across triplicate runs.
