Table 3 Organisms and their recommended growing conditions. Each of the three microbes used in co-culture validation experiments was purchased from ATCC, rehydrated, and grown under their recommended conditions before co-culturing began. The ATCC catalogue numbers and recommended growing conditions are presented here. Because P. acnes is an aerotolerant anaerobe, it was first grown in a homemade anaerobic jar inside the incubator
